Importance of War Centre Upgrading.
One of the things that separates the experts in the game from the lower level
player is the experts tendency to get upgrades early and to know what upgrades
affect what units. I notice that many people I consider to be of intermediate
skill level seldom have war center upgrades for their troops (which makes a
huge difference especially considering cost).....The good rushers nowadays will
have 4 Troop Cetners in T2 and primary focusing coils and basic armor for their
troops giving them a distinct advantange in battle............
The war center upgrades dont break the bank but they make one hell of a differenece
especially if you ahve them and your opponenet doesn't and vice versa. In case
some of you do not know here are the 4 main war center upgrades (and other important
military upgrades) and the units they affect:
NOTE ALSO THAT NOT ALL CIVS GET ALL THESE UPGRADES
Upgrades for Trooper Units (Troop Centre & Unique units)
Basic Armor then Light Armor then Heavy Armor
---The Trooper armor upgrades above enhance units defensive strength by reducing
the amoutn of damage they absorb with each hit.
**Affects all Troop Center units and Unique Units such as Dark Troopers, Droidekas
(Destroyer Droids), Wookie Beserkers, Royal Naboo Royal Crusaders
Primary Focusing coils then Cooling Sleeves then Advanced Power Pack
---These attack upgrades not only add attack power (rating) to trooper units
but also to mech factory units, they increase the amount of damage your unit
can do with each shot.
**Also note that upgrades at the Troop Center such as macrobinuclars (portable
scanners and then integrated range finder) affect Unique Units that benefit
from troop upgrades as well as all your Troop Center units so make sure to get
all upgrades at troop center as well if you are using any of the above 4 units
Upgrades Available at Troop Center and Their Effects on Trooper Units (NOTE
THEY AFFECT THE UUs listed above)
Macrobinoculars: Adds +1 to range and LOS
Portable Scanners(Requires Macro.): Adds +2 to range and LOS
Integrated Rangefinder(requires Porta.):Adds +1 to range and LOS
Droid Assistants: 20 percent faster trooper unit production
Lighter Armor: Enhances your trooper units with a modest speed increase (and
allows for dexterity to be researched)
Dexterity: Boosts trooper unit movemtn speed again
Explosive Yields Increase: Very important T4 upgrade if available your civ that
affects grenade troopers by doulbling their blast radius and damage within that
radius really makes your naders strong, even stronger versus mechs.
Additional Trooper Upgrades and their Location
At the WAR CENTER you will find Grenadier Training which decreases grenade trooper
reload time allowing them to fire faster.
If you are the Rebel Alliance at the WAR CENTER in tech level 4 you will find
tougher armor which boosts rebel troopers armor and hp by 20 hit points.
If you are the Wookies at the COMMAND CENTER in tech level 4 you will find self
regeneration which grants wookie troopers automatic helaing over time and an
additional 30 hit points
If you are the Confedaracy at the RESEARCH CENTER in tech level 4 you will find
the Droid Upgrades technology which grants confed troopers additional attack
power as well as a 25 hit point boost.
If you are the Galactic Republic at the WAR CENTER you will find the Kaminoan
Cloners tech which cuts Laser Trooper (Repeaters) production time in half and
also makes them fire faster.
Before I move on to Mech Upgrades (I will not go into upgrades for anything
but Mechs/Troopers at this time see if I get good feedback on this) here are
some key T4 military upgrades:
T4 MILITARY MUSTS:
At the FORTRESS be sure to get automated processes which boosts military unit
production by 33%
At the POWER CORE be sure to get efficient buildings which boosts any action
at powered buildings by 10%
If you are using cannons be sure to get at the RESEARCH CENTER Heavy Weapons
Engineers which increases the range of cannons (and other heavy weapons) by
+1 and gives them an attack bonus against buildings.
After these upgrades are done get whatever upgrades you need for the type of
army you are using or going to use.

Upgrades for Mech Factory Units.
I am going to start with armor as I did for troops.
WAR CENTER:
Be sure to get: Light Plating, Medium Plating and Heavy Plating These armor
upgrades make your mechs much more resistant to damage and are important if
you are ever going to mech rush in T3....and of course you want all of them
by post T4.
To raise mechs attack ratings their are 2 upgrades, 1 effects range also:
Same upgrade that affects troopers Primary Focusing Coils, Cooling Sleeves and
Advanced Power Pack also give the same attack bonus to mech units.
Mechs are also affected by Elevation Tracking, External Sensor Pod and Targeting
Sensor which not only affect mechs (but turrets, fortresses, ships etc.) attacking
rating but also give a range bonus. So this upgrade sequence will simulataneoulsy
add to your mech units attack rating and range.
Now to upgrades available at the MECH FACTORY itself:
Upgraded Generator: Gives your mech units a modest speed bonus
Advanced Generator: Available in T4 to some civs grants mech units yet another
speed bonus.
***These next two upgrades are very important if available:
ADVANCED REDESIGN: Available to GE, TF and Royal Naboo grants your mechs +50
hit points and maks mech destroyers more effective vs assault mechs, if you
are GE or TF this is the first HP upgrade to be researched if you want full
bonus.
TECHNICIANS: Available to GE, TF, Gungans and Confeds grants your mechs a 10%
(I think might be more maybe 20) hit point bonus (which is why it should be
researched after adv. redesign if adv. redesign is available.
Some Unique Mech Factory Techs:
GUngan Creature ARmor: 10% hit point bonus gungans only
Wookiee INgeninuity: Wookies only tech that makes mechs cost 15% less
Walker Research: Galactic Empire Unique TEch that reduces AT-AT (Assault mechs)
minimum range and allows them to fire upon air targets......
