Galactic Battlegrounds l Clone Campaigns l General Strategies

Strategy: Galactic Battlegrounds.
Early Attacks l Countering the rush l Getting Started l Strategy Home

I found this on the Zone and it is actually quite good for any player who isn't familiar with the Age of Kings series

Startup

Remember that your priority at the beginning of the game is to produce workers nonstop, which requires you build just as many shelters as you need and gather as much food as possible as efficiently as possible.
Immediately assign a worker to build a prefab shelter and queue up four workers in your command center. If you don't see any nearby food sources -- muja fruit bushes, fish, or herd animals (nerfs and banthas) -- have your idle workers gather carbon from a tree near the command center while you send your scout to look for food. When you locate food, assess the best way to gather it; you don't want your workers to waste time traveling from a food source to your command center. If you see herd animals, bring them to the town center before butchering them.

Build a food-processing center next to fruit bushes, and so on. Have your scout explore in spiral from your town center, covering all ground as it goes and sending home any herd animals it finds. You may want to set waypoints for your scout by holding down the SHIFT key and right-clicking at each new destination. Be careful not to let your workers go idle while you explore.

Continually check for idle workers and an idle scout by alternately pressing the comma [,] and period [.] keys.
Make sure to build shelters. At the beginning of the game, only build a new shelter when you are about to run out of population room (the ratio of current population to the population that your shelters will support is on the right side of the resources bar). If you build a lot of shelters right away, you won't have enough carbon to build a food-processing center.
Once you've got enough food coming in that you can produce workers nonstop, have all new workers harvest carbon from trees next to your command center.

Advanced Resource Production

As your nearby forage areas and/or herd animals become exhausted, switch to farm production. Build each farm as close to the command center or a food-processing center as possible so that your workers won't have far to bring the harvest
Build a carbon-processing center next to a forest. Assign workers to harvest in that area if they are idle or if they are ranging far from the command center in search of carbon.

As soon as you get ahead on carbon, queue up farms in the food-processing center, so that as each worker uses up a farm, it will immediately and automatically build another from the queue. If there's water nearby, build a shipyard and utility trawlers for fishing.
Build a power station near your command center. If you haven't slaughtered all your nearby herd animals, have a worker build an animal nursery within the radius of the station's generator field. Select the animal or animals, hold down the ALT key, and right-click the nursery to garrison it. The nursery will begin producing food for you. Like all production facilities, the nursery works VERY slowly if you don't have a nearby power station.

Going to the Next Level

Don't stop producing workers until you see that you'll soon have 500 food units. As soon as you have 500 units, select your command center and then select the button to upgrade to level 2.
While upgrading to the next level, build processing centers next to ore and nova crystals and start harvesting them.
Build a troop center within the radius of the power station's generator field.
Build troops, continue to manage resources, scout, build production facilities, upgrade units, defeat your enemies, and have fun.
